Problem:

When looking at the results for a Tee node point, appears the results are not the same, why?

Can I ignore the high stress ratio results because it is the same node point and only consider the lower values?

How best to review the results?

Solution:

First, review AutoPIPE's online help:

Help > Contents> Contents Tab> Reference Information> Results Interpretation> Pipe Forces and Moments: Global Option

After reading this help page you should be able to understand why the results are printed: A05- & A05+ header, A05 branch.

The floating results dialog (imaged above) is OK for a quick review of a few points. However there are 2 other approaches that are much beeter for reviewing a models results: Results> Grids, and Output report per highlighted selection.

Results> Grids>

This command enable the user to quickly move between all of the reports and interrogate the results by specific load cases and all by double clicking on any one column heading to order the column in chronological order increasing / decreasing values.

note: Ratio is in order of decreasing values.

Output report per highlighted selection.

Select a portion of the model to see results just on the selected items that are highlighted red.

In this example, use Select> Tee.

Note: All Tee node points in the model have been selected.

Now select Results> Output report> enable "Limit results to highlighted points" and any additional sub reports (ex. Code Stresses). Press Ok to create the report. The only data in the report is exactly those highlighted item in the previous step above.

Note: turn off unwanted load case combinations under Tools> Combinations> check boxes in Print column.

Conclusion:

Like most programs AutoPIPE has a few different methods to review the Analysis Results, user must decide which method works best for them. As demonstrated above, there are more powerful features when using the grids or reports over using the Floating dialog. Again, it is your choice.

To answer the question above, "Can I ignore the high stress ratio results", absolutely NOT! This is a good example of why users need to take an official training course to quickly correct people against bad procedures in using AutoPIPE. Taking a class gives a user a good foundation to build upon in the coming years of usage..

Another suggestion would be to animate the load cases (Results> Displacement>)

This feature will help a person understand how the system is responding to different load cases, support / anchor locations, and support / anchor stiffness values as they all play an important role in stress analysis.
