In the Rotating Equipment Report do the calculated Forces Fx, Fy, and Fz and the Moments Mx, My, and Mz shown for the inlet and outlet connections refer to the global axes or the local axes in AutoPIPE?
The following information from the reference information on API 617 of AutoPIPE may be useful:
In the equipment report, the following information is given regarding the subscripts used in the report:
Notation:
F - Force M - Moment D - Diameter
Subscripts:
x - Shaft Axis y - Vertical Axis z - Pedestal Axis
e - Equivalent R - Resultant c - Combined Resultant
The reference information section on API 617 under the "Definitions of API 617 Calculations Variables" further clarifies Fx, Fy and Fz as shown below:
Fx |
= |
Horizontal component of resultant force parallel to the compressor shaft. |
FxA |
= |
Allowable horizontal force parallel to the compressor shaft. |
Fy |
= |
Vertical component of resultant force. |
FyA |
= |
Allowable vertical force. |
Fz |
= |
Horizontal component of resultant force at right angles to the compressor shaft. |
So basically the forces displayed in the report are with reference to the turbine or compressor construction.
