Comments, Questions, and Answers:

Item #1:

We are analyzing harmonic load with known Frequencies and Forces. Is there a way we can convert frequency domain to time domain in order to apply time history load?

Answer:

I apologize for the inconvenience, however AutoPIPE (v.09.06.xx.xx and lower) does not have this ability at this time.

Item #2: Why we see no displacement at the node where an AutoPIPE Harmonic load is imposed in the same direction?

Item #3:

Where would a user get the *.HMF file required by AutoPIPE?

Answer:

The HMF file can be generated by the following sources:

a. Bentley PULS can automatically generate this file

b. Other vibration analysis software.

c. Manually by the User,  defined from a vibration recording or other source (see AutoPIPE help for details).

Item #4:

Where in API 618 does it say to reduce allowable stress by 2?

Answer:

The divide by 2 is because of peak to peak nature of the harmonic input. The maximum stress is half the stress range peak to peak.
