Problem:

Noticed that when an *.PXF is exported from AutoPIPE into AutoPlant, an end point is placed in the AutoPlant model anywhere there is a point in the AutoPIPE model.  So even if there is only one segment in the AutoPIPE model, if there are additional points in between bends along the piping, they are brought into AutoPlant as end conditions and AutoPlant asks the user how they should be connected (with a buttweld, for example). Looking through the PXFOUT.map file but could not find anything that seemed to make this work differently.  While we may have extra points on the AutoPIPE side for supports or just to have points, the actual pipe would still be a contiguous pipe and would not need to be broken on the AutoPlant side.  How to fix this?

Answer:

AutoPIPE being a point based system splits the pipe at each point where there is for example a support attached. Taking this back to AutoPLANT via PXF would be taking all these smaller pipes to PXF File.

There is an option in AutoPLANT to manually select 2 or more pieces of Pipes and “Mend” them. This joins them into one.
