Option 1 Replace File with Version

This method doesn't require the user to run the reference resolver tool. All references will be relinked after you complete the following steps listed below. Because the reference resolver tool isn't needed this is one of the preferred methods to replace your corrupt file(s).

To replace the file(s) using the Version Method, right-click on the restored file within the case folder where the restored document is located and select Copy to... The Select a Wizard dialog below with pop-up. Select the No Wizard option then click Ok.

The Copy Document dialog will pop-up, within the Destination Document section of the dialog click Select.

This will prompt the Select Folder dialog. Navigate to the location of the corrupt file that needs to be restored. Then highlight the folder where the project file is located. Click OK. Once the folder has been selected click OK within the Copy Document dialog.

Within the Select an Action dialog select Create a new version of existing document then click OK. The Folder will begin to Export as shown below.

Once OK is clicked the Create Document Version dialog will pop-up. Fill out the Version string format section. (Make sure 1 & 2 are checked). Then click OK.

Tip: For the Version string format type in "From File Restore". ProjectWise will automatically either use alphabetic letters or numeric numbers for versions.

The Copying process will begin… (shown below)

Once the Copying process has completed, you'll notice within the project folder you now have a read only version   and an active version . The active version of the file will now have "For File Restore" as the version.

Tip: If you aren't seeing the read only version(s) you can use the OHDOT tab within ProjectWise and select Show Document Versions.

The design file is now ready to be used.
