This wiki will go over the best practice when making a backup of your modified user preferences and tool bar settings. It is always best practice to make a backup of your ORD user preferences when the user has made modifications to the settings and ORD tool bar.

Tip: for best results and to prevent carrying over issues with your user preferences it is recommended that you start with a clean prefs folder data. This is an optional step but will help prevent future issues with poor ORD performance when working with in ORD design files.

Making the user prefs backup

To make a backup of your user preferences you will first want to navigate to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Bentley\OpenRoadsDesigner\10.0.0\prefs

Note: if you are starting from scratch or you've use the ODOT PW plugin to delete user prefs you will no longer have the 10.0.0 folder you will need to run ORD first before proceeding.

Highlight everything within this folder and right click "copy".

then paste these files to your choice location for access in future.

Tip: it is best to copy this to a folder so that you can always get access to these files if you ever start having function issue within ORD. As an ODOT employee it is recommended that you copy these files you your state onedrive to avoid using VPN.
