iTwin (Desktop) Synchronizer Connection

Connections to an iModel can be created from your desktop using iTwin Synchronizer.

To create a connection, you need an iModel. iModels are created in ProjectWise 365 project – Creating iModels

Once you have an iModel, run iTwin Synchronizer from your desktop and from the drop-down button select the ProjectWise 365 project

Click on the New button to create a new connection

In the Create a connection dialog box, fill in the Connection name and the iModel you want to map this connection to

Browse to your PW Drive synchronized project on your local drive and select the folder that will be used as search path to find the design files.

Click on Add file to select the files that will be processed in this connection. You can add several files from the folder and sub-folders found in the search path

Last, select the file that will define the geographic coordinate system and click Next .

For iTwin Synchronizer to be able to process the selected design files, the necessary connectors must be installed on your local system and you must enabled them. iTwin Synchronizer will check if you have the those connectors.

If any of the connectors needed is not found, iTwin Synchronizer will show a message and allow you to enable the connector or remove the file.

iTwin Synchronizer will check for the connectors, download and install if necessary.

Once it finishes, click Save to go to the Connections dialog box.

If you need to modify the connection, add or remove files or you want to change the geocoordinate file, you can edit the connection using the meatball menu to the right.

Once you have all your connectors ready, you can synchronize the design files to the iModel .

To synchronize your changes, you will need to provide with a version name. This is important because with ProjectWise Design Review you can compare different versions.

You can provide with a comment for the synchronization and a description for the version. This information is important because it will allow you to know why it was created.

Once all the data is filled in and the connectors are checked, you can start synchronizing.

Just click on the Synchronize button.

Once it finishes the synchronization, you will see the connection name in the Connections dialog box and check the files that are part of this connection.

At this point you can go to the iModel and start the Design Review.
