Problem

"Update from design file" will not update the new view group names in a saved IPS file. The design file contained two view groups. The IPS file was set to a view group that had been deleted, and the other view group had been renamed. The "update from design file" would give an error that the deleted view group referenced did not exist and would not update the other view group to the new name. 

Solution

There is an undocumented variable that can be set to allow the view group names to be updated if the existing view group has been deleted.

IPLOT_DO_UPDATE_VIA_MODIFY=FALSE

located in iplot.cfg

Once the IPS files are updated, remove this variable.
