Automation Services allows you to extract data such as cells, custom line styles, levels, models and saved views from a drawing file; .dgn and .dwg formats. This document will show how to setup and run a component indexing job.
Integration Server:
1. Install MicroStation Pre-Requisite pack
2. Install MicroStation
3. Install Orchestration Framework - setup OFW database
4. Install Integration Server
5. Install Integration Server Administrator -
Set up a non-expiring user for Automation Services
a. In ProjectWise Administrator, go to users, right-click a user and select Properties.
b. On the Settings (TAB) of the User Properties, expand the general category.
c. Double-click User Credential Expiration Policy.
(The default setting for User Credential Expiration Policy is set to Server Default)
d. Double-click Server Default.
e. In the User Credential Expiration Policy dialog that opens, select No Expiration and click OK.
f. Once back in the User Properties dialog, click Apply and then click OK.

6. Install Automation Services - when prompted, configure Automation schema into the OFW database
7. Install Automation Services Administrator
a. Navigate to Start --> All Programs --> Bentley --> ProjectWise V8i --> Automation Services -->Automation Services

b. On the menu bar click Connections --> Connect --> Automation Services Browser (Figure 1)

c. In the Automation Services Browser Database Setup window:
• Select the Server where you configured your Orchestration Framework Database
• Enter the database user name and password
• Select the Orchestration Database
• Select OK (Figure 2)

In the Automation Service Browser
• Expand Job Definition
• Right click the instance
• Select new (Figure3)

d. Login to the Datasource that you will be running component indexing in. (Figure 4)

e. You may pick multiple files or a folder to run component indexing on. In this example, the job is being run on a folder

f. Select the Document Processor (TAB) which opens the document Processors window. Select the DGN Indexing so that
it is highlighted and click OK. (Figure 6)

h. Now that a Document Processors is added, select specific configurations to extract and then click OK. (Figure 7)

Save your Job Definition. (Figure 8)

I. Right click on the job and select Monitor. This will show the progress of the job (Figure 9)
• Right click on the Job again and select Full to run the job

In ProjectWise Explorer:
After the job has run, login to ProjectWise Explorer. A dmsSystem* folder will be created in your Datasource.
Expand the Components folder > DGN Indexing to see the items that were extracted. (Figure 10)
