Question:

How do I turn off the yellow message icons or the media file icons that are displayed in survey?

Answer:

To disable the message icons, go to Workspace > Preferences in MicroStation.  Select the Category "View Options - Civil".  Toggle Off the option for "Display Message Icons" under the Survey Locator heading.

You can also hide the icons by opening the Survey Details window and clicking on the “Message Center” tab.  Then right-click on a message and select the “Hide/Show Message Icons” option:
