Question:
I have InRoads/MX/GEOPAK installed, when I attempt to use the Subsurface Utility Engineering commands, I receive the following message:
Do I need a separate license for Subsurface Utility Engineering? Do I also need a separate license for Descartes?
Answer:
Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and Decartes both require a separate license from InRoads/GEOPAK/MX, therefore both products will need to be activated before use.
To activate SUE, on the MicroStation menu go to Tools > Product Add-Ins > Activate Subsurface Utility Engineering.
To activate Descartes, on the MicroStation menu go to Tools > Product Add-Ins > Activate Descartes.
Subsurface Utility Engineering (as well as Descartes) is delivered and installed with the SS3/SS4 civil products (InRoads, GEOPAK, MX). If you do not wish to install either of these products, you will need to change the settings during install. To do this, on the Custom Setup dialog during installation, click the down arrow next to the product name and select "This feature will not be available."
