Problem
Microsoft Word is locking up when integrated with ProjectWise while users are working or if the program is left idle. This is not a common problem among users but I discovered it happening with a few users who upgraded from ProjectWise 2004 to XM.
Solution
In ProjectWise Administrator, go to Applications, then "Word" and change the action that runs the program class "Word.Document" to "Word.Application" and this resolved the issue. Also, do the same with Excel, change from "Excel.Sheet" to "Excel.Application".
Also after setting this, make sure the ProjectWise Client applicaton association is removed for Word and Excel so that it uses the Default Administrator Application.
