Background

Copying saved searches between ProjectWise projects, when the searched folders are within that project.  Admin rights are required to create global saved searches

Steps to Accomplish

Option 1 creating new project based on a template project

  1. In your template project, configure the saved search to "Look in" the root template project, and check "include subfolders"

2.Save the search in the global saved searches in the project

3. Start the new project wizard, and browse to the Template project, and be sure that "copy saved searches" is checked on in the advanced tab of the template settings page of the wizard

4. You will find that the new project contains the "test" global search, and right click-show in search form will show that it is now searching within the new project

note: if you are searching a subfolder within the project, this process will also carry over the "look in" setting to search that same subfolder in the newly created project

Option 2 copying between existing projects

  1. Create the saved search just as in Option 1
  2. Drag and drop the saved search to another project

  3. If the search was configured to "look in" at the project level, the copied search will search within the project it was copied to

note: if you were searching a subfolder within the project, the "look in" location will continue to show the original search location because PW is not aware that the same folder may or may not exist in the new project
