ProjectWise Explorer crashes creating new folders when integrated with Bluebeam

 Product(s):ProjectWise Explorer Client
 Version(s):10.00.03.334 & 10.00.03.434
Area: Open / Save / Copy / Move
Original Author:Sangameshwar Pendalwar, Bentley Technical Support Group

Problem:

The users are reporting issues when using the pulldown menu to create folders or the Menu option to create a new folder. Using the right-click, the new folder works fine in some cases. This has been observed with the above-mentioned ProjectWise Explorer versions mostly but not limited to. The first folder creates fine, but when they try to create a second folder, ProjectWise crashes on the desktop. Folders created work simply fine but are accessible only after the ProjectWise Explorer crash.

Troubleshooting steps:

We have tested this, and the following are the steps -

 1. We first checked ProjectWise Explorer working perfectly fine with Bluebeam not installed
 2. Next, we installed Bluebeam
 3. After the installation of Bluebeam, we saw the negative behavior as reported by the users with ProjectWise Explorer
 4. Then, we uninstalled Bluebeam
 5. Lastly, we saw PW Explorer functioning as it should without Bluebeam installed

Solution:

The solution is to uninstall Bluebeam.

It is highly possible the user that does not have Bluebeam may have another application doing a similar update to a shared area of ProjectWise is also using.

We would still suggest Bluebeam be engaged as it may be installed over a shared DLL (Dynamic Link Library) or adding a DLL to a shared container, which is causing the issue.
You can raise a ticket for Bluebeam to check the same from their end further.

Bluebeam developed their own integration with ProjectWise using the public SDK. All support issues for the Bluebeam and PW integration go to Bluebeam.
