Clean Uninstall for ProjectWise

This procedure is used to clear Fatal Errors, which can cause an integrated Application to be unable to open even from the Windows Start Menu.

What is a clean uninstall?

A clean uninstall is a manual process that cleans up after the uninstall is complete to ensure that no remnants remain.

The ProjectWise installers are based on Microsoft installer technology. This technology users a manifest to install all the files for the application. When it is time the same manifest is used to remove all the installed files.

The key here are the words “the same”. Because computers are very literal followers of instruction, if a file attributes have changed it is not removed. An example would be a Bentley analyst has you turn up logging. Even if you turn it back down the time/date attribute is changed.

Removing ProjectWise

In Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins and delete the ProjectWiseIntegrationAddIn folder.

NOTE: If you are using a version of AutoCAD, Civil 3d or Revit that was installed using a plug-in you may need to uninstall then reinstall them to get integration to function.

These steps are added as optional because of the time that they add to the clean uninstall.

Install ProjectWise Explorer and ProjectWise Administrator

When reinstalling to repair a problematic integration the reinstall should be from the software download and not from a deployment package.
