How to Avoid

Option 1 Ways to create a link to a file in Projectwise

  1. In the Address bar, Right click the path and choose copy URL then paste it into an email or document. This will provide the full path in the hyperlink

  2. In the Address bar, Right click the path and choose copy URN then paste it into an email of document. This will provide a short path that includes the guid name of the file.

  3. Right click the file or a group of files and choose ‘send to’ \ ‘mail recipient as link’.   If you are in SS4 or later, the link will be pasted using the URN path.   In older versions this process would use the URL.  There is a user setting called "Use URN links" that will ensure the user is using the URN link with the ‘send to’ option.
  4. Other benefits of using the URN is that if the file is moved, it will still be found, since ProjectWise is directed to find the guid name versus the path.
