I double click a word document in ProjectWise and it opens in Microsoft Word. Leaving that document open, I go back to ProjectWise and double click another word document, I see it being checked out, but it never opens. When I close Microsoft Word, neither of the two documents I opened are checked back in and I have to check them in manually.
Be sure that Projectwise integration is properly installed. When you open the word document you should see the ProjectWise menu option and ribbon.
Check to see if a user association for Microsoft Word has been created. If it has remove it.
Check that the Global application setting is correct. You can check this from the client but you will not be able to change it. To check from the client, Go to tools, associations, programs. Change the association view to "Global associations". Scroll down in the applications list to Microsoft Word. Expand it then expand "open". It should show Word.Document.PW (followed by the path to winword.exe).

If all of the above does not solve the problem then try the following: Open a word document via ProjectWise. Then when you go to open the second document hold the shift key while double clicking the file in ProjectWise.
