When I open an AutoCAD Civil 3D file from ProjectWise I get a ProjectWise Warning message:
Some Data Shortcut references are failed to change path
It is recommended to re-open the document to resolve the issue
To avoid such issues in future, it is recommended to keep Civil 3D project local copies or use #HOOKLESSPATH setting to change the data shortcut reference paths using different method
set the following variable:
Dmssetvar #HOOKLESSREPATH 1
In ProjectWise Explorer 10.00.02.96 you are seeing this warning message because some of the Data Shortcuts references re-pathing have failed for some of the data shortcuts in DWG master. Meaning that some of the data shortcut references in the master document are pointing to the wrong location on the file system after the document is opened.
As the message states closing and reopening the Document again should resolve this. On a large project this process can be very time consuming.
Setting the variable to 1 will open Civil 3D DWG’s faster and will not flag the re-path issue (if document references set is consistent).
This setting was added to speedup Civil 3D master document open and improve the stability of the data shortcut reference re-path process on open.
It is possible that any datashortcut that cannot be repathed will not be displayed in the file. You can repair these datashortcuts manually. The next time the file is opened PWE will attempt to fix the datashortcuts again.
Best practice recommendation when setting the HOOKLESSREPATH variable, is to make routine backups of the drawings. Just as you should have for any production project.
If you encounter issues after setting the variable please contact Bentley Technical Support
