GEOPAK SELECTseries 2, 3, and 4 SMD Migration to ORD

This Document deliniates the workflow required to Migrate the SMD Features into OpenRoads Designer.

The referenced conversion utilities can be found in the Organization-Civil directory  (C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE\Configuration\Organization-Civil\Migration Utilities)

Create the MDB from the SMD file

  1. Open any version of GEOPAK SS2
  2. Open the GEOPAK Survey Preference Editor:
  3. User Preferences > Feature Preferences > Edit SMD File
  4. Load the SMD file for conversion
  5. Execute - File > Save As > Microsoft Access Database (need GEOPAK for this step)

Converting the SMD to Element Templates 

IMPORTANT ** Select the Option before you load the MDB

Converting the SMD to Feature Symbologies and Feature Definitions

Note: This will create 2 xml files.

Preparing dgnlib for ORD

  1. Open your SS2 dgn and export the Levels and Custom Linestyles (if any)
  2. Create a dgnlib in ORD with no workset with the correct units (English or metric)
  3. Make sure dgnlib has access to survey cells (ms cell list) and linestyles (import linestyles)
  4. Add _civil_standards_importexport = 1 variable to your config
  5. Add CIVIL_PROJECTSETTINGSDGNLIBLIST > $(CIVIL_ORGANIZATION_STANDARDS)Dgnlib/Feature Definitions/*Survey_Settings*.dgnlib variable to your config
  6. Open dgnlib in ORD
  7. Import levels and linestyles
  8. Import element template xml
  9. Import feature symbologies xml
  10. Import feature definitions xml
  11. Create survey settings
