Error or Warning Message

The following error occurs when attempting to process a response file on the Manual Log Transmittal page of SELECTserver 9.x:
Validation of the response file has failed. The response file may have been modified. Error No.: -10504

Explanation

The error can occur if the response file has become corrupted or is not generating properly.

How to Avoid

Option 1 Regenerate the response file in the default format

To rule out a file corruption, regenerate the response file using the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the SELECTserver Manual Log Posting page.
  2. Enter the serial number and activation key for the SELECTserver. These can be obtained from the Server Settings page on the SELECTserver administration site.
  3. Select a usage log zip archive, and click the Submit button.
  4. Download the response file which should be in a zip format.
  5. Attempt to process it on the Manual Log Transmittal page.

Option 2 Generate the response file in an older format

If the validation error still occurs, the response file can be generated in an older format that should acknowledge usage successfully. Please generate the response file using the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the SELECTserver Log Posting page.
  2. Enter the serial number and activation key for the SELECTserver. These can be obtained from the Server Settings page on the SELECTserver administration site.
  3. Select the V 8.# radio button for the Response File type.
  4. Select a usage log zip archive, and click the Submit button.
  5. Download the response file which should be in a zip format.
  6. Attempt to process it on the Manual Log Transmittal page.
  7. An "Invalid Response File" error page will display. This is expected since an older response file format was used.
  8. Reload the SELECTserver administration site.
  9. Navigate to the Manual Log Transmittal page. The processed usage logs listed in Step 2 will now reflect a Yes in the Acknowledged column.
