Problem:
All users are unable to open MicroStation files from ProjectWise, getting "Last Error 222. Cannot start application for the specified document. Check your program associations. Failed to generate managed workspace configuration file. File not found on server."
Before the error appeared, there were no software updates/reinstallations. All configurations have been working well to date.

Solution:
This error normally occurs when there is a problem with a ProjectWise Managed Workspace. To troubleshoot the issue:
- Turn up the pwc.log.xml on one of the user's machine [ProjectWise Log elevation and gathering process]. This will help to gather more information in the log file when the error occurs.
- Recreate the issue by opening the MicroStation file from ProjectWise and wait until you get the error.
- Go to the pwc.log output location (by default C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Bentley\Logs), open the log with Notepad and search for the phrase "File not found".
- It will show you the error you received and an entry with a specific file name.
- There might be more than one result, but the culprit will be the last one. It should also be followed by "error -11037", which is PW error code for when a file is not found on the server.
- Search for the missing file name in ProjectWise. You may find that either this file does not exist, or the document record is still there, but when you try to open or export it, it will give you the "File not found on server" error.
- Recreate\replace the missing file in the correct workspace folder.
- Try to recreate the problem again.
- If the error occurs again, repeat the process to find the next workspace file that is missing.
- If your Datasource is hosted by Bentley, you can seek help from Bentley's Managed Services with getting a backup copy of the file if needed.
