Product(s) and Version(s):
ProjectWise Explorer 23.05.00.11
Problem: After installation of ProjectWise Explorer 2023, user gets a popup stating that “The administrator does not allow logging in to a datasource that is not configured to use a secure connection.”
Trouble shooting steps:
- As the screencap shows, the server in question is listed in the header of the popup.

- The server must be added as a security exemption in ProjectWise Explorer Network Configuration Settings in order to proceed.
Solution:
From ProjectWise Explorer, access the Network Configuration Settings and add an exception.
- Click tools> Network Configuration Settings (or access through your computer’s control panel).
- Run as Administrator if prompted and go to the Security tab.
- Enter the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) server name in both the Name and Hostname fields. The port field will normally be 5800.
- Press Add to create the exception.
- Close and restart ProjectWise Explorer
- The prompt should be gone, and login should be allowed with proper credentials.
The registry key where the security exceptions are stored is located at : Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Bentley\ProjectWise\NetworkConfig\Security
