How to create Temporary Activation keys

Solution

Temporary site activation keys allow you to provide a user with an activation key that expires on a given day. These are designed for a user who needs temporary access to use an application and / or users who you do not want to give your primary site activation key to. Usage of applications activated with a temporary activation key will be recorded against the Site that the key is assigned to. Note: There is no means to track application usage by activation key.

To Create a Temporary Activation Key you need to access the link below.

Note: To perform the operation the user needs to have a log in, password and permissions to perform the action.

For Hosted Licensing

For Deployed Licensing
http://(servername)/bss/admin or

http://localhost/bss/admin

1. Go the Select Server webpage admin
2. Login with your user name and password
3. Go Site Configuration
4. Select a site to configure if there is multiple site
5. Select the NEW KEY tab
6. A new Dialog Box Will open with the details of the temporary activation key which starts with TK_
7. You may have an option to Set an expiration date or set to Never Expires
8. Enter a description
9. Select an option either to restrict the Temporary activation key to a specific license or set to no restrictions.
Restrict the applications available to this activation key. If no restrictions are configured, then all of the sites applications will be available for use.
10. Once finished you can save it and supply the Temporary Activation key. Please note that this will be stored for future editing or if you want to delete it.

Once a Temporary Activation Key is created, it will appear in the group list. The pencil icon to the right of the list allows the administrator to modify the key. This will reopen the Create / Modify Temporary Activation Key dialog where products may be added or subtracted from the key. Should a license update occur where a product is dropped from the site license, the key will also lose access to the product. The trash can icon will delete the key thus sending all machines activated to it into disconnected mode. Once the disconnected mode expires, typically 30 days, the product(s) on the machine will be disabled.
