When do we need to migrate our SELECTserver product restrictions to Entitlement Management?

Product activations currently done through SELECTserver will be switched the Subscription Entitlement Service on April 30th.  To prepare for that, it's recommended to configure the product restrictions for your activation keys before that date.  The product restriction settings for activation keys will apply to SELECTserver-licensed versions after the switch occurs.

What happens if SELECTserver product restrictions are not set up before the switch date?

Any product activation through an activation key that works through SELECTserver will continue to work through the Subscription Entitlement Service.  If product restrictions are not configured in Entitlement Management, end users configured with a particular activation key that previously restricted activations will be able to activate any product that is entitled through the Organization's contract in the country that the activation key is associated to.

Will Threshold alerting work for SELECTserver usage after the switch?

No. Threshold alerting in SES is based on the availability of real-time usage reporting. SELECTserver-licensed versions were designed to send the usage at a later time which means that usage will come in too late to consider it for any real-time alerting decisions.

Can my organization opt out of this switch?

No. The switch that will occur on April 30th is the next phase of the sunsetting of SELECTserver and will apply to all traffic that was previously directed towards the hosted SELECTserver.

Will my products licensed through our deployed SELECTserver stop working after the switch?

No. Those products that are currently available in the deployed SELECTserver's license file will continue to activate.

Will the switch affect my activations of pre-V8i product versions such as MicroStation\J?

No. Activations through SELECTserver Gateway will not be affected by this switch.
