Activation Key Mappings allows you to map your Activation Keys to an Entitlement Group. With this mapping, the requests for activations for the Activation key will respect the list of Allowed Applications that are configured for the Entitlement group in Entitlement Management.

Migration of Activation key restrictions from SELECTserver
Existing site activation keys, including custom activation groups and temporary keys, will automatically be migrated to SES and mapped to their corresponding entitlement country. However, Bentley cannot generate entitlement groups and the product restrictions to reflect existing custom activation groups and temporary keys.
Because these restrictions cannot be migrated over from SELECTserver automatically, administrators will need to create entitlement groups and configure the product restriction lists if they want to match the restrictions that were configured for the activation keys in SELECTserver. The Configure Activation Key Restrictions tool is available to facilitate this process. This tool will create a new Entitlement group with the same name as the Key Name, map the key to that new group and, import product restrictions from SELECTserver, if any exist.
To learn more about what mapping an Activation Key to an Entitlement Group does, please reference the SELECTserver to SES Migration Guide.
Using the Configure Activation Key Restrictions tool
The Configure Activation Key Restrictions tool will do the following:
- Create a new Entitlement group for each selected key using the Key name as the group name.
- In the event that the group name already exists in User Management, a new group name based on the Key name and the Key value will be chosen so a unique Entitlement group name can be created. The name of the group can be edited in User Management, if necessary.
- If you just want to use an existing Entitlement group, you can use the Entitlement group mapping drop-down to choose the group rather than using the tool.
- Map the Activation key to the new Entitlement group.
- Migrate the list of products that were configured for that key to allow activation in SELECTserver and add that list to the Entitlement group's list of Allowed Applications in Entitlement Management.
- Only the list of products that the Activation key was allowed to activate will be added to the Entitlement group list of Allowed Applications.
To use the Configure Activation Key Restrictions tool:
- Select one or more Activation keys from the Activation Key Mapping page. This will enable the tool at the top of the table.
- Click on the Configure Activation Key Restrictions tool.
- Depending on the number of Activation keys chosen and the number of restrictions configured on each key in SELECTserver, this may take some time to process. If you do have a lot of keys or a lot of restrictions, it is recommended to complete these migrations in smaller sets at one time.
- After completion, a summary of the changes that were applied will be displayed.
It is recommended to check the summary of changes to ensure they should still apply to your current needs. Any changes to the list of Allowed Applications can be handled by clicking on the Entitlement group button (
) to the right of the mapping and editing the Allowed Application list within Entitlement Management.
