A license purchased through the Marketplace is a practitioner license.
Practitioner Licenses are pre-paid, named-user licenses that allow organization administrators to assign specific users access to the eligible Bentley CONNECT Edition products. With Practitioner Licenses, assigned users have unlimited access to the product for the duration of the license. You can learn more about it here.
To Obtain a New Marketplace Subscription
- Go to the Azure Portal
- Go to the service called “Marketplace”
- Search for the license that you want to obtain i.e. "ProjectWise" or for Bentley Systems in general
- Click "Set up + subscribe"
- Fill required fields: choose an Azure Subscription, select or create a Resource Group, Resource group location, choose a name for the ProjectWise Subscription, and quantity of seats
- Go to next and then Subscribe
- A button “Configure account now” will activate after about 30 seconds. It will take you to the Landing Page. An email from Microsoft with a link to the Landing Page will also be sent to the purchaser.
To configure Marketplace subscription
Go to the Landing Page and fill out the User and Organization info and click Submit.
! Note that if someone in your organization has already made a subscription, the Organization info will be filled out already
When entering the Landing page for the first time, you will have to log in via Microsoft Azure AD, and will be presented with the following screen:
To Unsubscribe from Marketplace
- Go to the Azure Portal
- Go to the service called “SaaS”
- Click the subscription that you created earlier
- Click Unsubscribe
When a SaaS Subscription with a Marketplace Practitioner License (assigned or unassigned) is unsubscribed from in the Azure Portal, the corresponding license will disappear from the Marketplace Page in Entitlement/Licensing Management
When you change the number of seats for a Marketplace SaaS Subscription, you can raise the number of seats, but you cannot lower the number of seats.
! The azure portal will say that the request to change seats to a lower number succeeded, but there will be no effect on the number of seats (or practitioner licenses). The success message in the Azure Portal is due to a limitation in Microsoft’s APIs.
