How to Update CONNECT Advisor


CONNECT Advisor for v8i products:

Bentley CONNECT Advisor, an in-product tool to access context relevant learning material.

Bentley CONNECT Advisor is installed separately as an independent product. It detects existing v8i applications and automatically integrates itself with the supported applications.

Updates to the CONNECT Advisor feature are delivered during monthly CONNECT Advisor application updates via the CONNECTION Client update notification.

Each individual v8i product refers to the installed CONNECT Advisor feature so it is possible to have multiple instances running if more than one application is in use.

Update Existing Installation

If you are using an older version of CONNECT Advisor, you will be notified of the availability of the updated version availability through the CONNECTION Client and install it from there.

Alternatively, follow the process documented in the “Manual Download” section below.

Manual Download

You can download CONNECT Advisor from the Bentley's Fulfilment Center.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to http://select.bentley.com/FulfillmentCenter/ and log in.
    NOTE - If you are redirected to a page for downloading free Bentley iWare and Bentley Apps instead of what is described below, you do not have download rights for the Fulfillment Center.  Contact site administrator for Bentley products to request download rights. The site administrator is an employee of your company, not Bentley Systems.
  2. In the search box, enter "CONNECT Advisor" and press Enter. See image below. 
  3. Or can select the Brand & choose Bentley Cloud Services, like described below. 
  4. Select the All Downloads link under CONNECT Advisor.
  5. Make sure the generation is  selected as "v8i"
  6. Download the latest version by selecting the green download button next to “Bentley CONNECT Advisor (Multilanguage) 32-bit” or “Bentley CONNECT Advisor (Multilanguage) 64-bit”
    Use the 32 bit installer for 32 bit x86 OS and the 64 bit installer for x64 OS.

Manual Installation

  1. Run the downloaded executable file.
  2. Make sure all Bentley applications are closed.
  3. Make sure you close and exit out of CONNECTION Client, so that license client is also shutdown
  4. Follow the installer steps
  5. Default installation location is
    1. 32 bit – “C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Bentley Shared\CONNECT Advisor”
    2. 64 bit – “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Bentley Shared\CONNECT Advisor”
  6. CONNECT Advisor integrates with the all the supported V8i application(s) installed on your machine.

 

Installation instructions for IT Admins

CONNECT Advisor can be installed silently using command prompt as follows:

CONNECT Advisor for CONNECT Edition products:

Bentley CONNECT Advisor is installed with CONNECT Edition applications based on MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 4 or later. It was offered as a Technology Preview in Update 4, then became a fully-fledged feature from Update 5 onwards.

Updates to the CONNECT Advisor feature are delivered during quarterly application updates. Each individual CONNECT Edition contains its own CONNECT Advisor feature so it is possible to have multiple instances running if more than one application is in use.

Security Update for CONNECT Advisor for CONNECT Edition

You can download CONNECT Advisor Security Update from the Bentley's Fulfilment Center.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to http://select.bentley.com/FulfillmentCenter/ and log in.

  6. Download the latest version by selecting the green download button next to “CONNECT Advisor Security Update 32-bit” or “CONNECT Advisor Security Update 64-bit”
    Use the 32 bit installer for 32 bit x86 OS and the 64 bit installer for x64 OS.
