Problem:
I am unable to detach a reference file in MicroStation. I receive the message: "You cannot Detach a model from a managed model. The operation is cancelled."
Solution:
When 3D data is created in OpenRoads Designer, the program automatically creates and manages a 3D model. Since this managed model is used to store civil model information and also contains elements that are linked/ruled to other civil model elements, it is necessary for OpenRoads Designer to be running in to manage the refrence. Therefore, if a user attempts to use MicroStation to detach a reference that contains a civil managed 3D model, this message is presented and the detach command is not allowed.
In order to detach the file, the user must open the file in OpenRoads Designer to run the detach command. Since detaching these references could permanently break relationships in the element rules, you will receive the message below stating that "The reference has probable dependencies in the current civil model". Selecting "Yes" will detach the reference, but may potentially break the relationships between elements. Selecting "No" will cancel the operation.
