Cross Section Point Annotation Troubleshooting

Product(s):OpenRoads Designer
Version(s):10.09.00.91+
Area: Drawing Production

Problem:

Points are not annotating in the Cross Section Drawing Model.

Troubleshooting Path:

  1. DGN SETTINGS
    1. Did the Cross Sections create correctly?
      1. See this video on how to create cross sections.
    2. Did the Drawing Model annotate with an Annotation Group assigned?
      1. See this wiki on how to assign an Annotation Group to your Cross Section Drawing Models.
    3. Are all the Levels turned on in the Drawing Model?
      1. Open the Level Display dialog and right click within the Name/Used section and select All On
    4. Are the linear features that need annotation displaying in the 3D model?
      1. Make sure the Feature Symbology that the feature's Feature Definition uses has either a Default Element Template assigned or a 3D Element Template assigned. See this wiki for help.

  2. ANNOTATION GROUP
    1. Is the point included in the Location Annotation Filter?
      1. Watch this video for help on troubleshooting the Location Annotation Filter.
      2. How to edit a Cross Section Annotation Group (Start watching at 10:45 for Cross Sections) also provides additional clarity on an Annotation XS Point Definition.

  3. TEXT FAVORITES
    1. Is the Annotation XS Point Definition's Favorite pointing to a Text Favorite that exists?
      1. It could be that the Favorite is pointing to a Text Favorite that doesn't exist in the model. This has happened when Text Favorites have been renamed, moved within the tree structure, or deleted and the program did not update the information properly. You will need to remap the Favorite row to the correct Text Favorite.
    2. Are the Text Favorites used by the Annotation Group set up to display the correct information about the point?
      1. Open the Text Favorite Manager and navigate to the Text Favorite that the Annotation Definition uses to make sure it is using the correct Field Types and formatting you need. You can open the dgnlib to make edits to the Text Favorite. This wiki covers how to create a Text Favorite
      2.

  4. CELLS
    1. Is the Annotation Definition pointing to the correct cell?
      1. Maybe the cell originally selected has been renamed within the .cel file and now this Annotation Definition needs to be redefined.
    2. Is the .cel file defined in your workspace and loaded under MS_CELL?
      1. File > Settings > Configuration > Configuration Variables. Check to see if the MS_CELL variable is pointing to the .cel file that contains the cell you want to use for Cross Section points. If not, you can edit and append the folder path to the .cel file. Restart ORD for the changes to the variable to take place.
