Question:
How do I create text with accent characters in OpenRoads SignCAD?
Answer:
2. In OpenRoads SignCAD, set the Text Size and Text Font from the Preferences menu.
3. Create a panel and pick the Text tool, position the Text cursor in the panel and press <ctrl>V to paste the text with accent characters from your clipboard.
4. To reduce the spacing between words (example: from 1.5” to 1”), use the Text tool and highlight the space between words. Press <ctrl>S to bring up the Text Size dialog box and set the space size = 1 and press OK. Do this for each space between words.
NOTE: The Highway fonts support most of the accent characters, but not all of them. If you paste text with accent characters into OpenRoads SignCAD and you receive a box where the letter with the accent character should be, then that accent character (ex: small letter z with Caron) is unsupported by the selected font. To fix this, right click on the text and pick Text Font from the floating menu. In the Text Font dialog, press the More Fonts button. In the Font dialog, select a different font installed on your computer that supports the accent character as shown below.
