SYNCHRO Link and activation problems with other SES-based products

Problem Description

Bentley products using CONNECTION Client do not activate after the installation of SYNCHRO Link.

Steps to Resolve

When SYNCHRO Link is installed, it configures the licensing system for a special server mode that can interfere with the activation of other products, especially if the server mode configuration process is not completed.

To confirm whether server mode is enabled, conduct the following steps:

  1. Open CONNECTION Client.
  2. Select "Health Check" from the drop-down menu in the upper right.
  3. Run the Health Check tests, and note as highlighted below whether Server Mode is on and the Access Key is blank.

If SYNCHRO Link is not needed, please perform the following steps:

  1. Right-click on the Windows Start menu, and select Apps and Features from the contextual menu.
  2. Uninstall SYNCHRO Link.
  3. Right-click on the Windows Start menu, and select Windows PowerShell (Admin) from the contextual menu.
  4. Execute the following command to restore the licensing system to normal mode:
    & "$env:CommonProgramFiles\Bentley Shared\CONNECTION Client\LicService\Bentley.Licensing.ServerModeSetup.exe" --clear
  5. If successful, the following message will appear:
    [INFO] Restarting services (License Service, CONNECTION Client)...
    [INFO] Service restart complete.
    Server mode settings cleared. Connect licensing will run in normal mode
