Export Activation Key Mappings
SELECTserver allowed organizations to organize their licenses into sites and then further refine their access and reporting with the use of Custom Activation Groups with separated activation keys for each site or group. As Bentley shifts to the Subscription Entitlement Service (SES) which eliminates sites, we are introducing Allocation Groups. Allocation Groups offer an easy way to organize your users and applications in your reports. Under SES Allocation Groups work based on User Login or Groups of Users. Since most customers are still running in a hybrid world of SeS and traditional SELECTserver licensing, we’ve introduced a way to map usage reported to SELECTserver under Activation Keys into Allocation Groups. This will allow your SELECTserver usage data to show up under Allocation Group reports in the Subscriptions Analytics Portal. The following instructions guide you through mapping your existing Activation Keys to the new Allocation Groups. Existing site activation keys, including custom activation groups and temporary keys, will automatically be migrated to SES and mapped to their corresponding entitlement country. However, Bentley cannot generate entitlement groups or allocation groups and the product restrictions to reflect existing custom activation groups and temporary keys.
Because these restrictions cannot be migrated over from SELECTserver automatically, administrators will need to create entitlement groups and configure the product restriction lists if they want to match the restrictions that were configured for the activation keys in SELECTserver. The Configure Activation Key Restrictions tool is available to facilitate this process. This tool will create a new Entitlement group with the same name as the Key Name, map the key to that new group and, import product restrictions from SELECTserver, if any exist. To disable an Activation Key, click the slider at the far-right of the row in the Enabled column.
When you click this slider, you will receive a pop-up confirming you wish to disable the Key. Click Yes to disable the Key.
The slider will turn gray. Click it again to re-enable the Key.
IMPORTANT: Once a key has been disabled, there will be one of two behaviors when a machine attempts to activate a product with that key
- If the machine has never activated a product with that key, the product will activate in Trial mode. Trial mode lasts for seven days.
- If the machine has activated a product with that key in the past, the product will run in Offline mode. The duration of Offline mode varies by product, but may last up to thirty days.
- After thirty days, the product will move into Disabled mode. The product may still run in Disabled mode, but with restrictions. The restrictions may be a time limit (only run for fifteen minutes at a time) or certain features in the product will not work.
In all three modes (Trial, Offline, and Disabled) product use may still occur but will not appear in usage reports.
