What are LastMileUtilities?

• It is a C# .NET-based MDL Plug-In for OpenRoads & OpenRail Designer, etc.
• It's built using SDKs from OpenRoads & OpenRail
• It features utility tools that can assist users with drawing production, running bulk operations, working with terrain, and using voice commands for quick actions, among other functions.
• Tools are arranged in various menus & in the future, more tools will be added
• It's a plug & play utility & needs no extra libraries or supporting files
• There are multiple videos available on the LastMileUtilities page to explain the functionality of each tool
  
• Note1: It works on releases 2023, 2024 or 2025
• Note2: It does not work on Microstation as it needs libraries from OpenRoads Designer SDK

How to Install LastMileUtilities App & Use?

• Download the utility & save to your local machine
• Unzip & Save the utility folder at the Design Application Path
  • For Ex. C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition\OpenRoadsDesigner\Assemblies\LastMileUtilities
• Please make sure that the folder has . .DLL files and, Resource folder in it 
• The resource folder contains sample Cell and Excel files
• Launch the OpenRoads Designer or OpenRail Designer application
• Please add the "LastMileUtilities" folder path in the configuration variable "MS_ADDINPATH" and then try the command "MDL Load" again
• Search "MDL Application" in the Search Ribbon on the right top
• It would open the Application window
• "Browse" to the "LastMileUtilities.dll" file in your folder. Click OK
• Please make sure you get a success message at the Status bar, as shown below
• If you face any problem loading MDL successfully, here are a few action items:
  • Please make sure you are not loading this MDL into the v8i application, as it's not supported
  • Please make sure the path you are putting the MDL in has full access to your logged-in account
  • Please make sure you have the latest version of OpenRoads/OpenRail Designer
  • Most importantly, the entire Source code of the LastMile Utilities is available in the Examples project in the OpenRoads SDK from 2023 release onwards
