Usage Alerting Service is Unavailable

Problem Description

The Bentley License Client is having trouble reaching the Alerting service.

This does not mean that the session will cause the alerting threshold to be exceeded. It simply means that it cannot be determined one way or the other. If there is a concern about exceeding the threshold, it is recommended to contact your license administrator to confirm the current usage level for the product.

Steps to Resolve

1. Close any Bentley applications - if they're open.

2. Open CONNECTION Client.

3. Click on the icon with your initials, and select "Sign Out". For the CONNECTION Client v26 and newer, it is located in the lower-left corner; for older versions, in the upper-right corner:

4. Sign in again.

5. Open Windows Task Manager, click the "Details" section on the left, and end two tasks in the following order: Bentley.Licensing.Service.exe and Bentley.Connect.Client.exe. As an alternative, restart the machine.

6. Open the CONNECTION Client and sign in. The tasks you closed in the earlier point will start automatically.

7. Open the Windows Start menu, search "Bentley Licensing Tool" and open it. Alternatively, open Bentley Licensing Tool using any of the methods described here)

8. Select "Refresh Policy". For the CONNECTION Client v26 and newer, it is located in the "Policy Actions" drop-down button of the "Support" section; for older versions, in the "Tools" menu:
