Managing Server Access Key access with an Entitlement Group

Server Access Keys are a way for a server-based product to obtain a license and post usage without a user actively signed in to the machine. Server access keys are created in the Server Product Access Keys page in Entitlement Management under a specific entitlement country. The Server Access key, when created, will have access to all of the products enabled for use at the product-level and country-level access controls.  Depending on the access control settings at these levels, the Server Access key may be able to license and report usage of a wide range of products from the organization's portfolio.

If the organization administrator requires a finer level of control of what the Server Access key is allowed to license, the Server Access key can be mapped to an Entitlement group that defines a set of Allowed Applications for that group. This allows flexible configuration of product entitlements in a way that can limit the Server Access key to a small number of products (a restrictive list of products) or to allow the Server Access key to access the entire list of Allowed products available in the country-level plus added Allowed Applications just for that group (an extended list of products). For more information about how to configure the list of Allowed Applications for an Entitlement Group to meet your needs, please see Entitlement Groups - Managing Access

Mapping a Server Access Key to an Entitlement Group

Navigate to Entitlement Management and use the left-navigation menu to navigate to Users and Groups and then to Entitlement Groups.

Select your previously created Entitlement groups (see here for more information) and go to the Server Access Key tab.

Click on the "Map to Existing key" button to open the side-bar to search for an existing Access key.  Select the keys you want to map to the group by clicking the checkbox next to each key and then hit the Apply button.

Un-mapping a Server Access Key from an Entitlement group

To remove the mapping so that a Server Access key no longer follows the access control settings of an Entitlement group, select the key from the Server Access Keys tab and hit the button to "Disassociate Access Key".  Note: this does not delete the key, but simply removes the mapping to the group.
