Using a rectangle arrangement to center an arrow on two lines of legend

Question:

How do I center an arrow on two lines of legend in a sign within OpenRoads SignCAD?

Answer:

The Rectangle tool is a convenient way to place objects into multiple arrangements. Once the rectangle arrangement is placed in the panel, it can be deleted, and the objects will remain arranged in the panel.

1) Pick the Rectangle tool and left click on the workspace to bring up the Rectangle dialog box. Press OK to create the rectangle using the default values.

2) From the Preferences Menu, pick Drawing. In the Drawing dialog, check the Letter outlining option and press OK. This will outline the letters so white text is visible on the white background. Create both lines of legend and drag them individually into the rectangle.

3) Create the standard arrow and select it.  Drag the arrow over the rectangle and place it on the left of the legend.

4) Create another rectangle and the legend and arrow for the bottom portion of the sign.

5) Select the edge of the rectangle with SERVICE VEHICLES and the arrow, move it and place it in the sign panel above the horizontal line. Select the other rectangle with PUBLIC PARKING and the arrow and place it in the sign panel below the horizontal line.

6) With the Select tool, select each rectangle and delete it. Notice that the objects remain arranged in the panel.

7) To get equal vertical spacing of 3.6" to panel edge, right click on the arrow and pick Object Spacing. In the Object Spacing dialog, set the spacing = 3 for all sides and press OK.

8) Save the file.
