Introduction:  The instructions and video below show how to create a tabular arrangement in OpenRoads SignCAD.

A tabular is an arrangement box of one or more columns and rows that can contain objects in cells. Objects in tabular arrangements can be aligned in both rows and columns. Below is a tabular arrangement with 2 columns center aligned and 2 rows middle aligned. WEST is in column 1, row 1; I-65 is in column 1, row 2; EAST is in column 2, row 1; I-465 is in column 2, row 2.

Step 1: In OpenRoad SignCAD, pick Place>Arrangement.

Step 2: In the Arrangement dialog, select Type: Tabular and set Columns: 2 and Rows: 2. Left-click on the workspace to place the tabular arrangement.

Step 3: Click on Route Markers>Interstate>Interstate. In the Place Interstate Route Marker dialog, enter Route Number 65 and select Size 36 from the drop-down menu. Hover the cursor over the tabular arrangement and left-click to place the I-65 shield in column 1, row 2. Close the Place Interstate Route Marker dialog.

Step 4: In the Place Interstate Route Marker dialog, change the Route Number to 465. Hover the cursor over the tabular arrangement and left-click to place the I-465 shield in column 2, row 2. Close the Place Interstate Route Marker dialog.

Step 5: Click on Text>Place Text. In the Place Text dialog, select Font: Highway E 2K, Size: 12 and default Color: White. Press the <CapsLock> button, click in the Place Text dialog and type EAST.

Step 6: Left-click on the right edge of the W and drag the mouse left to highlight the E. Select Size: 15 and Text Alignment: Baseline. Press Place Text.

Step 7: Position the text cross-hair over the tabular arrangement. Left-click to place EAST into column 2, row 1

Step 8: In the Place Text dialog, change EAST to WEST. Press Place Text.

Step 9: Position the text cross-hair over the tabular arrangement. Left-click to place WEST into column 1, row 1

Step 10: Select the tabular and pick Properties to bring up the Tabular Arrangement Properties where you can change the number of columns and rows, size, row and column alignment, spacing and line settings.

Step 11: Select the Edit Arrangement tool to view the arrangement and alignment lines. The dashed blue lines show that the tabular arrangement is middle and center aligned. The spacing triangles show the object spacing around each object and what is controlling. Pick the Select tool or any tool to turn off the arrangement and alignment lines.

The video below shows how-to create an Interchange Crossroad sign using a tabular arrangement with 2 columns and 2 rows.
