Introduction:  Below are the instructions for loading the OpenRoads SignCAD to DGN Application in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenRail Designer, or OpenSite Designer.

CONFIGURATION SETUP

OpenRoads SignCAD 2024

Copy the SignCADToDGN.cfg file found in the C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads SignCAD 2024.00\SignCADToDGN folder into the MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenRail Designer, or OpenSite Designer product config\appl folder.

Example OpenRoads Designer Path:
C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer 2023.00\OpenRoadsDesigner\config\appl

OpenRoads SignCAD 2023

Copy the SignCADToDGN.cfg file found in the C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads SignCAD 2023.00\SignCADToDGN folder into the MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenRail Designer, or OpenSite Designer product config\appl folder.

Example OpenRoads Designer Path:
C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE 10.12\OpenRoadsDesigner\config\appl

Example MicroStation Path:
C:\Program Files\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\MicroStation\config\appl

NOTE: It is recommended to remove the OpenRoads SignCAD.cfg file, which loads the .rsc files and older SignCAD MDL application, from the product config\appl folder.

 

WORKSPACE CONFIGURATION

Copy the contents of the SignCADToDGN.cfg and paste them into the _Civil Default Standards - Imperial.cfg or other WorkSpace .cfg file located under the OpenRoads Designer Organization-Civil folder.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE OPENROADS SIGNCAD MENU IN BENTLEY PRODUCTS
The OpenRoads SignCAD ribbon workflow includes icons to Import SignCAD File or Paste SignCAD File into the DGN file.

Import SignCAD File – Browse to select SGN file to import into the DGN file.

Paste SignCAD File – Paste sign from the clipboard into the DGN file. To add a sign to the clipboard, select the sign in OpenRoads SignCAD followed by Copy (or CTRL-C).

HOW TO DEFINE THE DEFAULT IMPORT SETTINGS (OpenRoads SignCAD 2024)

You can define the default import settings in the ImportSettings.cfg file located in the C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads SignCAD 2024.00\SignCADToDGN folder. Edit the ImportSettings.cfg file in Notepad and save your changes.

IMPORTANT: If you have the Fill Color (2023 SignCAD To DGN) or Import Background Color (2024 SignCAD To DGN dialog) boxes checked in the Import or Paste dialogs and the placed signs do not display with the color fill, then check the View Attributes in OpenRoads Designer or MicroStation to make sure that Fill is toggled ON.
