Question:

I have updated OpenRoads Designer from the Connection Client and now when I double click to launch the program, I see the splash screen for a quick moment and it immediately goes away. How do I fix this?

 

Answer:

1. This is most likely an issue of antivirus software blocking ORD from opening. This is mainly affecting those that have Sophos, Sentinel, SentinelOne, or Cylance, but there are instances of other security virus scanners. To resolve this issue, you will need to whitelist the Bentley folders so that the OpenRoadsDesigner.exe is not blocked. The list of folder locations are mentioned in the following wiki article. 
What are the programs, folders that needs to be white-listed in the antivirus program to resolve the splash screen issue.

2. This issue was also observed when a user profile was not auto-generating under AppData\Local\Bentley\OpenRoadsDesigner\ on program startup. This was most likely a permissions issue, but a quick way to get the user back up and running would be to have an admin remote into the machine (with admin rights) and open OpenRoads 2025 under the user's profile. Once opened, a 25.0.0 user profile folder should get created in the AppData\Local\Bentley\OpenRoadsDesigner folder. This is ultimately a workaround, but it allows a more in-depth investigation into the user's permissions.
