Introduction:  The instructions below show how to install TrueType fonts in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder to use in OpenRoads SignCAD.

OpenRoads SignCAD includes the Highway B, C, D, E, E Mod and F fonts that are installed with the program. A backup of the Highway fonts is provided in the C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads SignCAD [version]\Fonts folder in case you need to reinstall them into the C:\Windows\Fonts folder.

Each standard within OpenRoads SignCAD uses either the Series 2000 (2K) Highway fonts or the older 1977 Highway Plus fonts. The Font pick list available from the Place and Text dialogs (2023/2024) or Text Tab (2025) will show the Highway fonts used for that standard under Highway Fonts.

NOTE: The Text Font dialog in the older 32-bit OpenRoads SignCAD versions do not show the "Plus" in the Highway font names like it does in the 64-bit versions. However, the Highway fonts are the same and generate identical results.

Additional TrueType fonts can be used in OpenRoads SignCAD by installing them into the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. Fonts installed on your computer will display under the All Fonts section in the font pick list (see images above).

NOTE: OpenRoads SignCAD is compatible with the ClearviewHwy fonts but does not include themPurchase and download the ClearviewHwy TrueType fonts from the font owners at https://www.clearviewhwy.com.

Step 1: In File Explorer, select the TrueType fonts (TTF) that you want to use in OpenRoads SignCAD. Right-click on the TTF files and pick Install or Install for all users from the menu that opens. This will install the selected fonts into the C:\Windows\Fonts folder on your computer.

Step 2: The installed TrueType fonts will now be available for selection in the OpenRoads SignCAD from the Place and Edit Text dialogs (2023/2024) or Text tab (2025). See images above.
