When the Model should be displayed in the specific coordinates on the Earth
- Map a Spatial root that has defined geocoordinates:
- Create an empty DGN file and define a coordinate system that fits the location, where the model should be positioned. Read more about Geocoordinates set up on the MicroStation wiki.
- Define model extents. More information can be found in the Solids Working Area wiki article
- Map a Master file
- If the Master file will not have defined coordinates, it will be positioned in the same location as the Spatial root.
- If the Master file has its own defined coordinates and elevation from the ground, it will be positioned in the source file's defined location on the map. if the source file coordinate does not match the coordinates set up in a Spatial root and are far away from the origin, this will result in the following issues in the iModel:
- The fit view function may not position the drawing to the center, and instead show a broader area, trying to calculate a distant source element into view.
- Model graphics could look edgy
- Source files may not be visible to the iModel at all
- Incorrect elevation in the source models can also result in the same issues as with distant elements. An example of incorrect elevation could be a source model located near the moon.
- The simplest way to resolve model display issues is to fix the geocoordinates of the source file and reprocess iModel.
