We’re looking at building a complex Synchro model for a very large project, we need to be able to create two separate synchro models each with their own Gantt Chart but then we also need to be able to merge them together so that both sequences are incorporated. I know that you can merge files in Synchro but I wasn’t sure if it would retain the 4D information of both.
Merging Synchro Files is absolutely possible and all 4D information will be retained on merging.
1. Before starting the linking process in either of the 2 files, ensure that the 3D models are in the correct location relative to each other
2. Open a new Synchro Project - this will be the master file.
3. File>Import>Synchro Project. Browse and select both SP files.
4. On the import settings dialog, scroll down to the bottom of the list and change "Override Project Dates" to TRUE. This will update the Data Date and Project Date Zero in the master file to match the imported project. Both imported project files should have the same values for these dates in Navigator>Project>Details
5. Select Import. Both schedules will be in the Gantt chart and both 3D models will be in the 3D window. The assignments between the 3D resources and the tasks will be retained
