3D Measurement Tools

This widget contains various tools for taking measurements, extracting quantities and location from the model.

The Information Panel at the bottom-left of the screen indicates the next steps required to properly use each of these tools.

Clear Measurement context tool, when available on the top-left corner of the screen, can clear all the current measurements from the model.

Note: Some of the tools may require Alignments and Station Offsets data to work with. iModels generated using older Civil products or i.dgn format will not include this data.

Distance

Displays the Distance, Slope, Start/End Coordinate for each numbered segments that gets created on subsequent mouse clicks. Right-click clears all the measurements from the screen.

Area

Can create multiple polygons and displays Area on the model view and Area, Area XY, Perimeter and Edge Count on the side panel for all selected polygons. Subsequent mouse left-clicks creates a polygon and a right-click completes and reset the tool for a new polygon.

Station Offset

Provides various measurements (refer to following images) of an offset distance from a selected linear element or alignment. The following modes are available –

At a point provides measurements from the selected linear element to a designed point perpendicular to it.

Between points provides additional options to get measurements from a different starting point perpendicular to the selected element, and also the ending point.

Location

Displays Coordinates, Latitude/Longitude, Altitude and Slope for specified points in the model.

Quantities

Calculates Top Slope Area, Planar Area and Volume for selected 3D elements. Subsequent element selections add to the total quantities. Elements can be removed from by either right-clicking on it, or pressing the Ctrl key + left-click.

Length By Edge

Provides the length of an edge of a selected element. Right-click reset the selection.

Length By Station range

Provides the length of the selected element based on the Start/End Stations. Right-Click resets the selection.

Note: If the selected element does not have a station range, it will automatically switch to Length By Edge tool.
