Manual Assignment
To assign a Cost Code, first select the element(s) in the 3D View, then click on the link icon . Only the bottom level Cost Code can be selected for assignment, which in-turn assigns the actual Work steps.
The assigned Cost Codes can be quickly reviewed either through the information Tooltip accessed by hovering over the selected element(s). This can be enabled in Settings.
The Cost Code Assignment Properties widget in the Visibility Tree window displays additional details: Assigned Cost Code, Work step Name and Type, and Calculated Quantity with UOM.

This widget allows users to queries 3D elements by property values, then visually validates the assignments and quantity calculations. As a result, users assign the Cost Codes to elements in bulk. Users can also save the query to run again in the future. The value of assigning by query avoids tedious manual work, saves times, and improves efficiency.

Any edits made to Cost Code assignments are saved in local cache and need to be synced to the cloud by clicking on the cloud icon. After sync, assigned Cost Code and the quantity is available in SYNCHRO 4D Pro as 3D Objects User Fields.
This widget shows the legend for the status of Cost Code assignments to 3D elements -
Unassigned elements do not have a Cost Code assigned are displayed as grey.
Assigned elements have a Cost Code assigned and have successfully calculated the quantities are displayed as green.
Assigned with issues elements have a Cost Code assigned but with errors, and are unable to successfully calculate the quantities, are shown as read and requires further review.
Use the Assignment status slider to turn off the legend color and show the original iModel colors.
