No seepage results from pond in SewerGEMS or CivilStorm

Problem

After computing a model with seepage (infiltration) included for pond infiltration input, no results are reported or the "Flow (seepage loss)" is reported as zero.

Solution

This is related to the setup of the system. In order for seepage to be reported, a composite outlet structure would need to be included in the pond outlet element. At a minimum, the orifice that signifies the opening of the conduit connected from the pond outlet element to system downstream of the pond should be included. Once a composite outlet structure is included, the program will report seepage for the pond.

If this is a pond that only drains from seepage / infiltration, you can simply end the system with the pond. No pond outlet element would be required. You can also add a "fake" pond outlet with an outlet structure whose invert is equal or just below the top of the pond (so no flow ever leaves it) and connect it to a short "fake" conduit, connected to an outfall node at a slightly lower elevation. Not that if the seepage is small compared to the inflow, the pond may overtop.

Another alternative would be to model a large weir set equal to the pond top (and extend the pond elevation-area/volume table slightly higher) to model overflow from the top of dam.
