Problem

User gets error: Registry key not found. Key = 'SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v3.5'

OR Microsoft .NET Framework - Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempts to continue.

Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.

Solution

This framework error can be resolved by an update to the .NET framework 3.5 SP1.  If you have trouble installing .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 please contact Technical Support
