What is the slot width of a Slot Inlet?

Problem

For a Slot Inlet, where do I enter the sloth width and how is it used?

How do I solve for slot width for a slot inlet in FlowMaster?

Solution

The Slot width is based on the HEC-22 Standard of 45mm or 1.75" and is calculated using the same equations as for a curb opening inlet of the same length. Meaning, the HEC-22 standard equations for a slot inlet applies to all widths greater than 45mm or 1.75".

In FlowMaster, you can only solve for the slot length which is typically of much greater concern, and the slot width is assumed to be adhering to the standard mentioned above.

In StormCAD, SewerGEMS and CivilStorm, if you have a non-standard slot inlet (that does not conform to HEC-22), consider using one of the rating curve options to model the inlet capacity and account for any differences from variations in slot width.
