Problem
When attempting to re-open a model in the AutoCAD integrated mode which previously had an XREF attached, the following errors appear and the model elements cannot be selected.
"Open drawing - errors found .... One error was found in the drawing file during open. Would you like to cancel this open?"...
"FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0028 Exception at AC8CD493h"
Solution
This is a known issue as of version 10.04.00.158 of the storm and sewer products. This may also impact the water products 10.04.00.108. It is planned to be addressed in a future version (reference #1183971)
To resolved the issue, upgrade to a newer version when available, or consider the following possible workarounds in the meantime:
- Use the Standalone version with the XREF file attached as a background layer, in DXF format. See: CAD Functionality in Standalone as an Alternative to AutoCAD or MicroStation Integration
- Remove the XREF files before reopening the model
- Downgrade to an earlier version when AutoCAD integration is required. Note: Model backward / forward compatibility
