Problem Description

We have been given many DGN's that were done in Microstation 08.05.02.70 and have rasters attached to them. They look fine in 08.05.02.70, however, we are using MicroStation V8i SS2 and when we open them we do not see the rasters displayed. They show in raster manager, but not on the screen.

User has dgn file with raster images attached and has reference attached them and the raster images are not displaying in the reference file.

User has Models reference attached and raster images are not displaying.

Reason

The Level that the raster image was attached is turned off.

Steps to Resolve

In raster manager are the view numbers along the bottom of raster manager gray? In V8i the images are placed on levels so if the view numbers are gray then that means the level that the raster images are attached on is turned off. You can see what level they are attached on by double clicking on the image name in raster manager. This will bring up an Element Information box. In Element Information Under General you will find the Level that the raster image was attached. In Settings > Level > Level Display make sure the Level is turned on.

In the dialog that comes up you may have to change it to say "View Display" if it is set to "Global Display". Once this is changed you should see that the level in the list below is white, which means its set to not display.   If you click on the level in the list and turn it on then the raster view number in Rastr Manager should turn blue and the raster images will display.

Look at the attached link if View # shows blue for the raster image in Raster Manager and the raster image is not displaying.

If raster image shows Red in Raster Manager it means that Raster Manager is unable to locate raster image on disk.
