Overview

While using Netsys Heating or Chilled water it may be noted that the pressure drop for pipe sections exceeds the maximum pressure drop provided through the system marker.

Method

The software follows these methods during sizing:

  1. Initial sizing of pipe work based upon the required flow rate

  2. Limiting velocities are considered and pipe sizes are increased using an iterative process if required. This can overrule the initial sizing.

  3. Limiting pressure drops constraints are now checked against calculated pipe pressure drops, excluding fittings; Pipe sizes are increased using an iterative process if required.

This method considers limiting pressures drop for pipe sections only. Fitting pressure drops are not considered during steps 1, 2 and 3.

  4. Once pipes are sized, the pressure drops for bends, tees and other fittings can be calculated. The pressure drops are then added to the pipe pressure drop to provide the Total pressure drop. The pressure drop/M is calculated from Total Pressure Drop/Pipe Length. This final figure is displayed on the results pages.
